Czech vignette 2026: prices and validity periods explained
Last checked: 24 October 2026
A Czech motorway vignette (sometimes called a toll sticker) for a petrol, diesel, LPG or standard hybrid car costs 230 CZK for one day, 300 CZK for 10 days, 480 CZK for 30 days and 2,570 CZK for a year in 2026. Cleaner vehicles pay less, and fully electric and hydrogen cars are exempt. The vignette is electronic and linked to your number plate, so there is nothing to stick on the windscreen.
Czech Republic vignette prices by fuel type (2026)
The price depends only on how the vehicle is powered, not on whether it is a car, a minibus or a motorhome. These are the 2026 time-based charges set by Czech regulation:
| Fuel / drive | 1 day | 10 days | 30 days | 1 year |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Petrol, diesel, LPG, standard hybrid | 230 CZK | 300 CZK | 480 CZK | 2,570 CZK |
| CNG / LNG / biomethane (50%) | 110 CZK | 150 CZK | 240 CZK | 1,280 CZK |
| Plug-in hybrid, CO₂ up to 50 g/km (25%) | 50 CZK | 70 CZK | 120 CZK | 640 CZK |
| Fully electric / hydrogen | exempt | exempt | exempt | exempt |
LPG cars pay the full price; there is no discount for them. The CO₂ figure that decides whether a plug-in hybrid qualifies is shown in the vehicle registration certificate (field V.7 on an EU-format document). For comparison, the 2025 prices were 210, 290, 460 and 2,440 CZK. Details on reduced rates and the exemption are in our guide to electric, plug-in hybrid and CNG cars.
How long each vignette is valid
Every vignette starts on the date you choose. The periods are counted in calendar days, including the start date:
- 1-day: valid on the chosen calendar day until 23:59:59. If you buy it at 10 pm and start the same day, you get only two hours.
- 10-day: ten calendar days. Starting on 10 November 2026, it runs until the end of 19 November 2026.
- 30-day: thirty calendar days. Starting on 10 November 2026, it runs until the end of 9 December 2026.
- 1-year: 365 days from the chosen start date, not a calendar year. Starting on 10 November 2026, it runs until the end of 9 November 2027.
You can buy in advance, but the start date can be set at most 30 days after the day of purchase. The vignette is checked by cameras that read your number plate, so you do not need to print anything. If you are not sure which length suits your trip, see which Czech vignette to choose.
Which vehicles need a vignette
A vignette is required on the tolled sections of Czech motorways for vehicles with a maximum permissible weight of up to 3.5 tonnes: cars, minibuses, vans and motorhomes. A few points worth knowing:
- Motorcycles are exempt.
- A trailer or caravan does not need its own vignette. What counts is the maximum permissible weight of the towing vehicle as stated in its registration certificate, not the combined weight.
- Vehicles over 3.5 tonnes do not use a vignette; they pay a distance-based electronic toll with an on-board unit.
- Ordinary roads and city streets are free of charge.
Not every motorway section is tolled, either. Our guide to toll roads and toll-free sections explains how to tell them apart.
What may change in 2027
According to the amendment passed by the Czech Chamber of Deputies on 23 September 2026, prices would stay the same in 2027 (2,570 / 480 / 300 / 230 CZK) and the automatic annual increase would be scrapped. The 1-day vignette would also become a 24-hour vignette, valid for 24 hours from its start rather than until midnight. Discounts for CNG, plug-in hybrids and electric cars would remain. The Senate took no decision on the bill on 21 October 2026, so it goes to the President for signature; the law has yet to be promulgated, and the planned effective date is 1 January 2027. If the amendment does not take effect, the Ministry of Transport will announce the 2027 prices under the old formula by 30 November.
Frequently asked questions
Does a motorhome cost more than a car?
No. If its maximum permissible weight is up to 3.5 tonnes, it pays the same as a car with the same fuel type.
Do I need a vignette in Prague?
Not on city streets. You need one only on the tolled motorways leading into the city.
Which vignette is the most popular?
The 10-day vignette. Of the 10.3 million Czech e-vignettes sold in 2025, 4.13 million were 10-day ones.
Is the vignette valid immediately?
It is valid from the start date you choose, and never before payment. Buy it before you set off rather than at the border.
